Toronto police have arrested and charged Babatunde Afuwape, 28, in the fatal shooting of Indian student Shivank Avasthi on the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus, calling the killing a “senseless” and deliberate act.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. — The Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday that Michael Burham, 37, has pleaded guilty to murdering a Jamestown mother of three.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A woman was being held on a $1 million bond Wednesday afternoon in the Shawnee County Jail following her arrest in connection with first-degree murder and other offenses, officials said. The woman, Jaliyah Marie Smith, 27, was booked into the Shawnee County Jail at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) - Police have made an arrest in an overnight murder in Rocky Mount. John Shellington was charged today with first-degree murder. He is accused of shooting 49-year-old Antonio Cooley. The man was killed around 1:30 a.m. this morning in the 300 block of Sunset Avenue.

His charges stem from a fire and fatal shooting reported in February 2025. Maldonado is accused of setting a fire in Sioux City at a home with multiple people inside. On that same day, Thursday, Feb. 20, authorities say Maldonado shot at two people, one of whom, Jamal Bilata, died from his injuries.
