The Gaston County Powerball player who won $2 million has been identified as Pegi Campbell of Cramerton and she has an unusual plan for her money, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.

A North Carolina woman's "spur-of-the-moment" decision to buy a lottery ticket during a store trip resulted in her winning a $2 million prize.

A Powerball lottery ticket worth $50,000 was purchased at a gas station along the Jersey Shore for Monday’s drawing. The winning ticket was sold at the Shell station on Main Street in Bradley Beach, Monmouth County, according to the New Jersey Lottery. It matched four numbers plus the Powerball.

Christmas Eve Powerball win in Arkansas nearly broke the record of Edwin Castro of California, who won $2.04 billion Powerball in November 2022.

The Powerball winning numbers are in for the Wednesday, Dec. 31 drawing with a jackpot that reached an estimated $53.4 million ($20.7 million cash value). The largest winning Powerball jackpot ticket sold in Michigan was worth $842.4 million and sold in January 2024 at Food Castle in Grand Blanc.
