The sashiko linen pants were falling apart so I remade them using a more durable linen twill. This design was inspired by the everyday wear of commoners in pre modern japan. Hemp, which is similar to linen was widely used in clothing because it was durable, breathable and cheap to produce locally. The sashiko detail takes from how people reinforced worn areas to extend the lifetime of their clothing.
