The video has narration Pallid bats are California’s state bat. They have huge ears and somewhat golden fur. This is one of our larger bats, weighing in at 20 to 30 grams or about as much as two walnuts. Pallid bats are social and live in small groups in rock crevices and hollow trees. A group of bats will be warmer and safer than a solitary bat. So, it is important to take this bat back to its colony. Not only do pallid bats catch flying insects, but they also forage on the ground for beetles,

Pallid bats are pretty cool. They’re immune to scorpion venom and are found in the Western United States within deserts, canyons and rocky areas. They’re also the state bat of California! 😃🦇✨ #batweek Video of a pallid bat carefully getting raised up in the air and being released then flying into the night. This is one of the pallid bats left in our shipping hall in December of 2016 (many of you may remember that "special delivery"). Sadly, many of the bats had extreme dental infections on arrival and passed away over the following months due to a particularly horrible bacteria they had in their systems. The water dish that accompanied the bats was filthy, the inside was covered with a slimy black/green film. The bats were immediately started on antibiotics to no avail. Despite all of our efforts t

🦇MTBC Bat Fact: The adorable, yet mighty pallid bat (Antrozous pallidus) is immune even to the deadliest stings of scorpions and centipedes on which they feed. After making their catch, these bats often "night-roost" on porches where they drop inedible wings and legs of prey. If you live in the regions between Western Canada to Central Mexico and find some wings or legs from a hunt, it may have been from a pallid bat enjoying a midnight meal.🦂🐛These hunters are also pollinat

Mind your manners! The pallid bat (Antrozous pallidus) is an impressively tenacious bat, thanks in no small part to its penchant for wrestling and consuming scorpions. Researchers believe that this species may be immune to the venom of scorpion stingers. Read more about this amazing bat at www.batcon.org | Bat Conservation International

Bat Chat: Why are bats so important? Many bat species help control insect populations and other bat species pollinate flowers. The pallid bat will even enjoy a delicious scorpion meal. We love our scorpions, but it is nice to see bats flying around the campgrounds lowering the scorpion populations around our tents! Thank you bats! Happy Bat Week. | Joshua Tree National Park

The pallid bat may be best known for being the tough bat on the block. After all, this bat makes a regular habit of tackling and eating live scorpions. However, this bat has recently let us in on a little secret - it has a sweet tooth. In honor of #PollinatorWeek, watch how this bat's fondness of cactus nectar and messy eating habits makes it a champion pollinator. | Bat Conservation International

This beautiful Pallid bat is finally returning home after months in rehabilitation. He was found on the concrete while the finder was taking her dog for a walk. The dog started barking at the bat. Both wings showed punctures consistent with being caught by a predator, likely a domestic cat. The right wing also had tears, and there was a wound under the left wing. He came into our care via our friends at Gold Country Wildlife Rescue. He is now back home in Rough and Ready, where hopefully he will

Most species of bats (except fruit bats) use built-in sonar to hunt prey in the air. Pallid bats can too, but they prefer not to and rely on their super-sensitive hearing to hunt insects and arachnids on the ground. 🦇 #bat #learnontiktok #batweek #deeplook #science
